Cumbria RS Show 2006

Cumbria RS Owners Club Annual Show at Heaves Hall, near Kendal on 14th May 2006.

A paltry turnout of four minis set off for the RS Owners Club show, as guests of the Cumbrian RS Owners. It may have been a sorry turnout, but the cars we took were absolute crackers, and well worth a look. This show is usually a goodie, and this one was no different. There are always a good selection of visiting car clubs, as well as the usual fantastic Ford specimens you'd expect from such a dedicated club.

This year, unfortunately, the minis missed out on best travelling club stand, due to the outstanding effort of the Subarus, and the fact that we could have pitched our stand on a postage stamp! None the less, the day was good, and the weather stayed reasonable throughout. The minis drew a lot of interest, and we had the usual respect from the other owners, who can appreciate the cars without covering them in sticky fingerprints.

The cars on our stand were:

• Chris's awesome supercharged 1380
• Dale's fantastic personal restoration project, his own Mini Brooklands
• Craig's mini cooper sport 500
• Mark's mini cooper S works, with it's three amazing widescreen televisions.

Amongst the Fords, there were many motors well worth a look, and it's easy to get a really good look, with mirrors so you see all the bits you wouldn't normally! For me, one of the best cars, was Ruddy's 'salmon pink' Mk II RS2000, absolutely stunning!

All in all, a good day was had by all, you should be sorry you missed it! Roll on next year! Start polishing now! Mark.
